Ready for your Dragon’s Den glow up?

Gemma and her team launched Gem & Tonic in November 2024 and the brand has gone from strength to strength, with plans to scale the business further in 2025 and beyond.

Gem + Tonic positions itself as an accessibly-priced, simplified beauty brand – for the busy customer who still wants to embrace self-care – but without the overwhelm (sounds familiar doesn’t it Financielle?)

Some businesses grow by reinvesting profits back into more products and more launches, scaling at a gradual rate.  If a team wants to grow a business more quickly, they can use capital – AKA money – to do this.  They could get money through business loans, or they could sell shares in their business and use investor money – this is where crowdfunding comes in!

Crowdfunding lets everyday people become investors in businesses, as well as enabling companies to raise funds from the crowd, not just big banks or venture capitalists.  Sometimes you can invest from as little as £10 and often there are investor perks for crowdfunding investors too…. If you were to invest £200 in Gem + Tonic, you’d get an exclusive investor discount of 15% for 6 months, plus a signed thank you card from Gemma.

Hold on a minute…

There are risks with all types of investing and start-up investing is especially risky.  Many businesses fail and there’s no guarantee you’ll get your money back.

That being said, a proven product from a popular influencer with an existing community are all factors that may give a potential investor confidence.

It’s really important that if you choose to invest, make sure that it is money that you can live without – think disposable income may have gone on a new dress or a night out anyway!
