Hot Girl Summer is Over: Financielle’s Guide to Self-Care September
So, it’s September. Normal life is returning, and you’re left to scoop up the little bits of routine you’ve got left. You’ve just had a relaxing summer in the English heat, you might have even escaped the country for some abroad sun (lucky you) but it’s now time to settle back into regularly scheduled programming, get your life organised and make it to the end of the year. This is your guide to getting back on track after hot girl summer.
Get organised
There’s no better than getting organised and feeling good about the month ahead. If you haven’t already, it might be a good idea to get your hands on a shiny new mid-year planner. Or if you’re more of a digital person you might want to organise your life in an app; we love using Notion! Getting all your appointments, meetings and playdates down on paper stops them floating around in your head meaning you can focus on the nitty-gritty.
Another great way to stay organised is having a sort out of your living space. Whether it be having a sort out of your clothing to create an autumn capsule wardrobe or having a declutter for a more minimalistic living space. Remember, tidy space, tidy mind.
Set some goals for the rest of the year
It’s easy to feel a bit all over the place after a summer of fun and some time off work, setting some goals for the last few months of the year is a great way to feel more centred. To set some realistic goals, sit down and think about what you want to achieve before we hit 2022 and why you want to do it. Once you’ve set out your goals and you’re feeling motivated, it’s best to lay out a plan of how you’re going to achieve them. It’s also a great idea to make daily and weekly goals to stay motivated towards your bigger ones and don’t forget to give yourself some credit when you reach them!
Top tip! – It’s important to set some realistic and achievable goals. Make sure you aren’t setting yourself up for failure and, instead, choose goals that will spark motivation.
Establish a new morning routine
Nothing quite says September like creating a new routine. The power of establishing and sticking to a solid morning routine is like no other; no matter what you’ve got on that day, your new morning routine is non-negotiable. By getting up at the same time every single day (yes, even on weekends!), you’re more likely to achieve more during your days. Starting your day in a successful way, ticking off your to-do list as soon as you open your eyes is the perfect way to stay motivated and hit those goals you’ve written out.
Creating a morning routine criteria can be completely down to you. But we recommend getting your full eight hours, waking up early and getting out of bed as soon as your alarm sounds. It’s important to start your day with a moment of peace too, we love making a coffee and taking a minute to breathe. This is a great way to implement intention in your day, express gratitude or simply clear your head before tackling the day ahead. We also love to add a bit of meditation, some journaling and a bit of exercise into our mornings. Once you’ve completed your routine, you’ll be ready for whatever the day has to throw at you!
Keep some time for you
You might feel a bit bombarded with information and us telling you what to do with your September by this point, but now it’s time to relax. As always, practicing self-care and having time by yourself is just as important as getting stuff ticked off your to-do list. Remember, self-care is productive, say it with us! Make sure to schedule some time to look after yourself, this could be in the form of getting some exercise in, reading a new book, eating more whole foods or simply watching some of your favourite Netflix series.
