It’s so tempting when you have your eyes on a big money goal to skip a few steps. You just want to get there… and quickly!
We’ve been doing this long enough now to know that the trick to reaching your goals whilst remaining financially well is to focus on one thing at a time. We get hundreds of dilemmas a month from people wanting to save for a house deposit, whilst saving for maternity leave, whilst paying down debt and building a mini emergency fund.
It’s enough to make even the most organised of us feel overwhelmed.
The Financielle Playbook was created to help you tackle one thing at a time, giving all of your energy to that one thing to generate real change. Once you adopt this methodology for your money, you start to generate a snowball effect of wins.
In case you haven’t read The Financielle Playbook or have conveniently forgotten the principles and are ‘winging it’, here’s a run down for you…
- Know your numbers
Do not skip this step. It’s time to stop burying your head in the sand. Knowledge is power and knowing your numbers will give you your starting point. If you have more going out than coming in, it’s time to budget, which leads us nicely onto step 2.
2. Budget
Creating a budget you can finally stick to is the game changer here. You are not required to go uber frugal, life is expensive. Housing, food and energy prices all continue to rise. A budget is not going on a money diet, it’s about creating permission to spend but in the places that will help you feel financially well and in the end (crucially) help you build personal wealth.

3. Net Worth
Knowing your net worth is not reserved for the uber wealthy. It’s for people like you and I who want to progress on their money journey. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your liabilities going down (debt) and your assets going up (equity, investing, pension contributions).
Want to track your net worth? This helpful article can help.
Note: Don’t worry if your net worth starts in the negative, this is just the beginning!

There are 11 parts to the Survive stage of the Playbook, you can find them all in the E-Book section within the Financielle App (hint: scroll down on the homepage).
